Announcing our Interim Rector The Rev’d John H. Branson

P1470453 (1)

The Wardens and Vestry of Christ Church Greenwich are delighted to announce the appointment of The Rev’d John H. Branson as our Interim Rector.  John will be with us during our time of transition as we search for our next rector.  John and his wife Judyth come to Christ Church Greenwich from North Carolina after many years of ministry in the Episcopal Church.  They have one daughter who resides in Westport, CT with her family.

John is best known for supporting congregations as they re-claim and re-establish ministry as servant disciples of Jesus.  John was the Rector of Christ & Holy Trinity in Westport for 21 years during which he helped grow the parish significantly, including overseeing the capital campaign for the Great Hall addition in downtown Westport.  During this time he was also a board member of the United Way of Westport-Weston and A Better Chance of Westport.  John has been very involved in the Episcopal Church in Connecticut, including being the board chairman of Camp Washington, the official camp and conference center of the Diocese.

Since retiring in 2012, John has served as the Interim Rector at The Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, Illinois, at Historic Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia, and at the Chapel of the Cross, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

He is a native of Concord, NH, where he graduated from St. Paul’s School, and serves as a summer priest at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Dublin, NH.  John and Judyth met at the College of Wooster in Ohio, and married in graduate school when John was at Yale Divinity School.  After ordination in 1974, John served at Trinity Church in Hartford as Seminarian, Youth Minister, Assistant, and Priest-in-Charge before taking up the call as Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Chatham, NJ for ten years.

We look forward to welcoming the Bransons to Christ Church Greenwich during this time of transition and transformation.  They will be joining us after Labor Day.

The Wardens and Vestry would like to thank our Bishop Diocesan, Ian Douglas, and his team, for their support, and the Christ Church Interim Advisory Committee members for their dedicated service: Marnie Dawson Carr, Pam Gomez, Carter Harris, Chuck Royce, and Karen Royce.
