Announcing our new Senior Associate Rector

Dear Friends:

I am delighted to announce that the Rev. Dr. Cheryl McFadden has accepted my call to serve as Senior Associate Rector of Christ Church Greenwich and will begin her ministry with us on October 1.

Cheryl will manage many of the day-to-day operations of the parish, provide oversight and administration of the spiritual formation programs for all ages, working in partnership with other staff, our spiritual formation committees and me. She will oversee our pastoral care ministries and will help launch a women’s ministry for our church.

Cheryl holds a doctorate of education in “Leadership in Higher Education” and has spent 25 years as a professor of education at various institutions across the country. She has published extensively in the field of educational leadership and higher education and has presented at numerous conferences. Cheryl also has a gift for grant writing.

In 2017, Cheryl earned a Master of Divinity from Yale University, a Diploma in Anglican Studies from Berkeley Divinity School, and a Certificate in Educational Leadership and Ministry. Cheryl has been serving as the Associate Rector and Director of Family Ministry at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh, NC, where she helped to develop the Mary Beth Fee Center for Pastoral Care. Cheryl and her husband, Patrick, have three grown children: a son, Sean, and twin daughters, Devin and Cailin. Cheryl and Patrick will live on campus.

We were attracted by Cheryl’s high energy, her work ethic and gift for administration, as well as her strong pastoral commitment and well-rounded gifts for preaching. Cheryl writes: “It is with great pleasure and immeasurable excitement that I join the staff and clergy of Christ Church. I have been in awe at the great work of the parishioners, staff, and clergy since I served the parish as a youth ministry fellow during my first year of seminary in 2014. It is with humbleness of heart that I join you all in ministry.”

In closing, I am most grateful to those of you who have increased your stewardship for 2019 or who plan to do so for 2020. This is what allows us to call experienced staff with the leadership skills needed to help Christ Church achieve its potential for ministry.  Please join me in welcoming Cheryl aboard. We will be at full strength in clergy staff when she joins us.

Faithfully yours in Christ,

The Rev. Marek P. Zabriskie
