Tuesdays in Lent: Buechner Series

Buechner 101

The Rev’d John Branson is leading a five-week series in Lent on the writing and “autobiographical theology” of Frederick Buechner, one of the liveliest and best-read writers on faith, theology, and the accessibility of God in the 20th/21st centuries. As he came to understand, a care-full interpretation of every life (including one’s own) will show how God acts, speaks, and declares God-self to every one of us. With a bit of encouragement, we can see and hear God in the daily comings and goings of our own lives.

February 20 – March 20, 2018
6:30 – 7 pm | Soup & Salad Supper
7 – 8:30 pm | Discussion
The Rectory
(Registration below.)

We will gather at the Rectory for a simple supper of soup and salad, then break into discussion on two Buechner books: The Sacred Journey and Buechner 101, Essays and Sermons by Frederick Buechner (about Buechner) with an introduction by Anne Lamott. Both books will be available for purchase at the bookstore by Ash Wednesday.

Buechner is one of the most “accessible” writers on religion and faith in our time. His prose, elegant yet simple, opens dimensions of meaning and understanding about God, faith, hope, and the promises of salvation easily understood by all readers. We hope you will join us for good fellowship and a lively discussion this Lent.
Please fill out the fields below. We will contact you to discuss scheduling a service of Holy Baptism at Christ Church Greenwich.
