Director of Youth Ministry

Christ Church Greenwich (www.christchurchgreenwich.org), a historic, vibrant, and mission-minded Episcopal Church located in Connecticut, is seeking an Director of Youth Ministry (DYM), complete with a competitive salary and housing.

Working alongside an empowered group of adults, the Youth Minister will train and equip a core group of volunteers, lead an established youth group, assist with Confirmation preparation, assist in the training of acolytes, and collaborate with the Director of Music in his effort to engage over 80 youth choristers. The perfect candidate will be highly relational and have strong leadership skills.

Applicants should have previous experience working with youth, a proven track record of guiding and empowering a group of volunteers and be excited about leading Christ Church Greenwich to help raise a generation of youth who have a strong foundation of faith in Jesus Christ.

Director of Children and Family Ministry

Christ Church Greenwich, one of New England’s oldest (1749) and largest Episcopal Churches, seeks a full-time experienced Director for Children and Family Ministry to collaborate with the clergy, staff, and vestry in implementing the parish’s mission, ministry, and witness and to grow the children and family ministry. The Church is in the process of embarking on a large growth initiative and the successful candidate will be expected to be an integral part of the team’s multiple growth initiatives.

Christ Church Greenwich has a membership of over 1,600 and has an average Sunday attendance of 367 across three services. It has a staff of 18, including three full-time priests and one part-time priest associate. Our church campus extends over 14 acres and 100,000 square feet of buildings. We have wonderful spaces for worship, hospitality and programming and a stunning, recently renovated sanctuary. Greenwich is a beautiful suburban community of about 60,000 people, located 45 minutes by train from New York City. The town boasts a wide selection of restaurants and many facilities, parks, a public beach, swimming pool, golf, boating, tennis, etc. Christ Church is within walking distance of the center of town

Our liturgical style is diverse and ranges from formal to informal and is reverent and firmly grounded in the Anglican tradition. Christ Church Music is a renowned world-class RSCM-certified church music program. A model of the Anglican choral tradition with a rich history and global reach, we offer eight active choirs, concerts, tours, and a vibrant teen scholar program. Christ Church is also the home of a Christ Church Preschool (CCP), an Episcopal Preschool accredited by the National Association of Episcopal Schools. Founded in 1960, CCP has a student population over 100 and a staff of 18.

Children and youth have been a recent area of focus and expansion; the church has one full-time and one part-time youth minister and the goal is to expand Children and Family Ministry to include additional staff.

The Role of the Director of Children and Family Ministry

Christ Church Greenwich is seeking a Director to work with the existing team of the four members of the clergy, the staff and vestry to advance the Church’s mission and focus on growing the children and family ministry.

We expect that the Director will:

  1. Assist in leading children and youth worship
  2. Be active in the pastoral care of children and families
  3. Plan and organize children and family services and events with the clergy, staff, vestry, and parishioners
  4. Develop and implement a Christian formation program for children and families
  5. Be creative, innovative, and able to execute ideas
  6. Have a spiritual presence and engaging personality

The Director will oversee and drive the growth of Children and Family Ministry.  This will be both a hands-on role, as well as involving building a Children and Family Ministry team from the many lay members already active in the ministry. The Director will also serve as chaplain to the Christ Church Preschool.

A new 9 am contemporary children and family service has been implemented to accommodate the growing number of families.

The church’s outreach program has been growing over the last seven years and continues to do so; it has deepened relationships with nonprofits in the local area and its volunteers currently help in food provision, service to the homeless, vulnerable youth and families. It has recently established a companion relationship with an Episcopal church in Cuba and is exploring expanding its local reach to prison ministry and vulnerable seniors. We continue to nurture a relationship with the Endupoto School founded in the Diocese of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania over 30 years ago. We organize parish visits to the K-12 school every other year. Twelve AA meetings a week are typically held on campus, and the church provides facilities for the largest food pantry and clothing ministry in Greenwich on our campus.

The Role of Associate Rector:
