At-home resources for the First Sunday after the Epiphany: the Baptism of our Lord
Today’s Reading:

John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. He proclaimed, “The one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”

Children's Chapel

For all Ages:

It’s the season of light! Today in our Children’s Chapel we will learn about how the wisemen came to bring gifts to baby Jesus to show how much they loved him. There are so many other stories in the Bible about gifts God gave to us. With the new year, let’s go all the way back to the beginning to remember some of those wonderful gifts. And! We have a fun song to sing! Join Miss Abby on the porch!

Take some time to rest and remember all the gifts God gave us today. Where is your special place that you go to remember what God gave you? Is it your backyard, a park, Tod’s Point, or a secret spot in your house. You can make a list or a collection of all the gifts you are grateful for. Or, do you feel inspired to give something to God today, like the Magi. What gift would you bring the baby Jesus? It’s never too late to give something to God.
