Today we arrived in the UK and settled into King’s College International School. We rehearsed both morning and afternoons in the Old Synagogue, an Egyptian Revival building now used as a recital hall for The King’s School. Sunday afternoon, choristers took a tour of a few highlights of Canterbury, then attended evensong in the Cathedral.
On Monday evening, the choir sang their first evensong in the Cathedral, and it was a truly grand event–the installation of a new Archdeacon of Canterbury. The evensong itself could not be photographed or videoed, but go to Canterbury’s YouTube to view it–look for the July 18 evensong. (Fun fact: Harrison & Harrison Organs rebuilt the Canterbury Cathedral organ, finishing in 2020).
