At Christ Church Greenwich, our worship is grounded in the very best of our Anglican tradition, according to the liturgies of The Book of Common Prayer (1979).
In its wide variety of liturgies, the Prayer Book shapes and supports both our communal life together and our individual experience of faith.
Clergy and many lay people use the liturgy of the Daily Office to shape their personal disciplines of prayer and study each day. Our clergy lead Morning (8:00 am) and Evening* (4:30 pm) Prayer in the Bookstore Mezzanine every week, Monday through Friday*.
*During the summer months (Memorial Day – Labor Day), Evening Prayer does not take place on Fridays.
Other sacraments, such as the Eucharist, Baptism, Marriage, Confirmation, Burial, and Ordination, are celebrations offered by the whole community together. These liturgies are opportunities for us to come together as a congregation to praise God, to offer thanks, to mark important moments in individual lives, and to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
Music as Prayer
The words of our prayers and the richness of our liturgical life are enhanced by our choral program. Music has always played an important part in our worship, and our Choir of Men and Boys, St. Cecilia Choir of Girls, St. Nicholas Choir, Christ Church Singers, Christ Church Scholars Choir, Compline Choir, and Bell Choir all continue that great tradition of praise through song.
We warmly invite you to join us for worship. Come take part in the rhythm of prayer and praise, raise your voice in gratitude or supplication, enjoy a quiet moment for reflection and rest, and glorify God with us. It is our prayer that, through the worship offered at Christ Church Greenwich, you will be nourished in your spiritual journey.
