Acolytes are the service participants who carry the crosses, candles, and other items in procession, and who help in a number of important ways throughout the service.
Becoming an acolyte is a great way to get involved and to learn more about Episcopal worship.
Being an acolyte is open to all – children and youth (8+) and adults. Acolytes wear special clothing to distinguish their role in the service. As an acolyte you are part of the worship team – the clergy, choir and musicians, vergers, lay Eucharistic ministers, lectors/readers and intercessors – who together with the entire congregation join in worshiping God. Training is provided.
