Christ Blessing the Little Children Window
This window was produced by Tiffany Studios in New York City in memory of Amelia L. Barrett, 1853-1888 and Foster Higgins Barrett, 1883-1887 in the late 19th century. This was dedicated to both the child and mother lost too soon. It is said that Amelia died of a broken heart when her son, Foster passed away so young.
This window is known to be one of Tiffany Studios’ most superb examples of stained glass art (The Windows of Christ Church by William E. Van Brunt, Jr.)
The scene in the window is based on the bible verse Mark 10:14 “...Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for such is the kingdom of God.”
Jesus said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
Mark 10: 14
Dear God, let us receive you through the wonder of a child’s eye always. Amen.
