Fish Sculpture
The fish appears in fifty Bible verses, perhaps most memorably in Matthew 4:19 in which Jesus promises his disciples “to make you fishers of men” and in the parable of the five loaves and two fishes, which fed a crowd of thousands. A stylized representation of the fish has been a symbol of Christianity since the first century AD and is still recognized as such. It’s also a perfect representation of a favorite summer activity.
The fish sculpture on the stone wall outside the doors to the church office was given by his family “In memory of J. Scudded Boyd who loved fish and this Church”. In addition to being a dedicated fly fisherman, Scudder was an active parishioner who for many years served as the Director of Communications at the end of his professional life. His late wife Annie was Chair of the Altar Guild.
The sculptor was the late Greenwich artist Richard Rothschild, whose wood and metal sculptures are displayed throughout the Northeastern United States.

Centering Prayer
Hidden God, ever present to me, may I now be present to you, attentive to your every word, attuned to your inspirations, alert to your touch.
Empty me that I may be filled with you alone.
