Mary Anna and the Angel
This exquisite window was created by Arthur and Ethel B. Norris, from New Rochelle, New York in 1944.
It shows Mary Magdalene and Jesus’s Mom, Mary being greeted at the tomb after the resurrection by an angel. All three faces have extraordinary detail and seem serene after all that has happened after the crucifixion. The two Mary’s are bringing the spices to anoint Jesus’s body but instead leave with the great news Christ has risen! The colors are so vibrant and reflect the good news in so many hues of green, reds, purples and blues. As you reflect on this window, can you imagine how you would have felt if you had been greeted by an Angel?
Let us share the final salutations of each service in celebration of Christ’s resurrection:
Let us go forth in the name of Christ.
Thanks be to God.
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Let us go forth into the world, rejoicing in the power of the spirit.
Thanks be to God.
Let us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
