Mary and Elizabeth & Mary presenting Jesus at the Temple
These two windows are exquisite examples of stained and painted glass created in 1910 by Heaton, Butler & Baine of London, England. While created in the 20th Century, they have a Medieval style.
In the left window, Mary is meeting with her cousin, Elizabeth when they are both pregnant. Mary with Jesus and Elizabeth with John the Baptist as told in the first chapters of Luke.
In the window on the right, Mary and Joseph are presenting Jesus to the Temple when Simeon meets them at the temple and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, recognizes Jesus as the Messiah.
Both of these stories are rich for spiritual contemplation. Do we recognize when God is working through us at the very beginning of a miracle in our lives? What miracles is God working through us today?
Almighty ever-living God, we humbly implore your majesty that, just as your Only Begotten Son was presented in the Temple as an infant in the substance of our flesh, so, by your grace, we may be presented to you with minds made pure.
