The Resurrection Cross in the Memorial Garden
By far the most dramatic cross on the Christ Church campus is the tall bronze contemporary Resurrection Cross in the center of the Memorial Garden, “Gift of Lydia Stevens in Memory of her husband George Stevens, May 12, 1985”. Both Lydia and George were active members of Christ Church for several years, George serving as Warden from 1967-1972 and Lydia as Warden from 1981-1985. They are the only couple to serve as Wardens of Christ Church. The spectacular cross was created by well known Connecticut sculptor James Knowles.
O Almighty God, we come to seek the Living among the living and to follow Christ as he goes before us to Galilee and into joys eternal. Let the hope of his Resurrection shine in our praises, as it leads us into more faithful witness and more joyful service; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns in glory everlasting. Amen.
